DOGON are an ethnic group indigenous to the central plateau region of Mali. The DOGON are best known for their religious tradition, their mask, dances, wooden sculpture and their architecture. The center table was inspired by the elevated mud structures of the DOGON. The DOGON people are known for houses built on the face of the cliff. The cliff provided protection from enemies and the weather, building on the cliff also freed the land off the plains for agriculture. The primary building material was stone, mud, and wood for roof thatching. the DOGON structures on the cliffs have become a world heritage site.
DOGON center table was created as a symbol of cultural heritage.
PRODUCT FEATURES
DOGON center table is made of metal, organic marble and polished brass engraved with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The center table directly mimics the mud structures of the DOGON people. The table uses two of the structural form attached together by an oval metallic top with marble detailing.
