BANTU are an ethnolinguistic group of approximately 500 distinct native African ethnic group who speak Bantu languages. these languages are native to 17 countries spread over a vast area from central Africa to southern Africa with countries like Congo, DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Uganda, Gabon, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Angola, Cameroon, Swaziland, Lesotho and south Africa. This chair derived its inspiration from the shape of the BANTU war shield. This shield typology was created by the BANTU people during war raids and disputes over high value land. These shields are made of thick hard leather contracted along a wooden strut; the stick also serves as grip. And in some cases, an animal fur on top of them.

BANTU chair is created as a symbol of protection.
