IVORY coast got it’s a name from the extensive trade in elephant tusks or ivory. A profitable trade in ivory existed in the 17th century and gave the area its name. however, the resulted in a decline in elephant population that ended the ivory trade by the beginning of the 18th century. Other African countries involved in the ivory trade in Africa includes Botswana, south Africa, Namibia, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, DR Congo, Cameroon, Zimbabwe.

The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The dining table uses the shape of an elephant tusk or ivory as the main form, for its stand that carries the table platform.
