KARAMOJONG are a Nilotic ethnic group in Uganda. They are mostly pastoral headers living in the north east Uganda, Kenya and a small part of South Sudan. the headboard was inspired by the headrest of the KARAMOJONG people. the headrest is often used for resting and sleeping. the headrest serves a protective function by elevating the head off the ground during sleep thereby preventing possible attacks by snakes, insect or scorpions. When a person dies, the headrest is buried with the individual or passed on to his heir who will treat it with respect because the headrest embodies the spirit of the deceased person.
KARAMOJONG headboard was created as a symbol of inheritance.
