MAMBILA people of Nigeria live on the MAMBILA plateau in Sardauna government area of Taraba state Nigeria and a fraction also on the other side of the plateau in Cameroon close to the Ndom plain. This dining table was inspired by the war shield of the Mambila people. This shield are woven from reed or sedge and were used in warfare both between MAMBILA villages and with raiders from outside such as the Fulani who raided MAMBILA plateau for slaves in the 19th century and also the Chamba before them
MAMBILA dining table was created as a symbol of protection.
PRODUCT FEATURES
MAMBILA dining table is made of metal, marble and polished brass engraved with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The dining table embodies the shape of the MAMBILA war shield for its platform supported by three cylindrical bases.
