NUPE is an ethnic group native to north central of Nigeria. They are the dominant ethnic group in Niger state and minority in kwara state Nigeria. This dining table was inspired by the punctuated vessel of the NUPE people. These vessels are usually contracted with terracotta, styled with punctuated holes. These pots are usually not intended for drinking or storage. It is used as vessels for smoking fish and other animals. The pot holes allow for the passage of sticks to rase the fish or animal as the case may be, off the put base for effective smoking. These pots are kept with other cooking utensils in the courtyard or cooking area.
NUPE dining table was created as a symbol of culture.
