TOPOSA are an ethnic group living in South Sudan. The TOFOSA people traditionally lived by herding cattle, sheep and goats and in the past were also involved in ivory trades. This chair derived its inspiration from the warrior shied that was used by the TOPOSA people during war raids and disputes over high valued land. The shield is made of thick hard leather constructed along a wooden strut on the back by means of a tightly plaited leather binding, this stick also serves as grip, and in some cases an animal fur on top of them.
TOPOSA chair was created as a symbol of protection.
