KARAMOJONG are a Nilotic ethnic group in Uganda. They are mostly pastoral headers living in the north east Uganda, Kenya and a small part of South Sudan. This bar stool was inspired by the headrest of the KARAMOJONG people. the headrest is often used for resting and sleeping. the headrest serves a protective function by elevating the head off the ground during sleep thereby preventing possible attacks by snakes, insect or scorpions. When a person dies, the headrest is buried with the individual or passed on to his heir who will treat it with respect because the headrest embodies the spirit of the deceased person.

KARAMOJONG bar stool was created as a symbol of inheritance.

PRODUCT FEATURES

KARAMOJONG bar stool is made of wood, polished deep brass engraved with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The chair embodies the form and shape of the KARAMOJOG headrest. The iconic form is used both for the leg stand as well as the upholstery extension of the chair.
