MAHONGWE people are a part of Kota people who live in the extreme northeast of Gabon brothering the republic of Congo. The headboard is inspired by the rare two faced MAHONGWE sculpture. The characteristics of the MAHONGWE sculpture is associated with the Naja snake. These sculptures are usually kept in the village temples. The form features a concave warhead faced topped with a small tubular growth, adorned with bulgy eyes, a rounded nose without mouth. This figures where used for ancestral connection and communication.

PRODUCT FEATURES
MAHONGWE headboard is made of wood, polished deep brass engraved with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The headboard embodies the form of the MAHONGWE figure for its upholstery as well as the pointed forehead to complete the design.
