FANG is an ethnic group found in Equatorial Guinea, northern Gabon, and southern Cameroon. This chair draws its inspiration from of the symbolic representation of the deceased ancestors of the FANG people in form of wooden statuettes. The figures represented both male and female ancestor with their hairstyles and beads. These heads are usually hidden carefully in the room of the linage head. at the back of the hut. They were regularly coated with palm oil and powder to adorn them.
FANG chair was created as a symbol of cultural connection.
PRODUCT FEATURES
FANG chair is made of wood, metal and polished deep brass engraved with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The chair directly mimics the beaded hairstyle of the FANG statue. The form is wrapped around the entire structure of the chair embraced with brass and upholstery.
