FANTE bar stool is made of wood, polished deep brass with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. the Bar stool mimics the embryo looking form of the FANTI doll with the joint eyebrows and nose represented by the backrest, the protruding harms and cylindrical body is represented by the stool legs and the Upholstered seat. The backrest is embraced with jewellery as seen with the FANTE doll.
FANTE people are part of the Akan group of ethnicities located in the central and western coastal region of Ghana. FANTE bar stool was inspired by the FANTE fertility doll. The FANTE doll was traditionally carried by women on their backs and believed it will bring pregnancy and a healthy childbirth. the Ashanti women would dress the embryo appearing figure with cloths and adorn with jewellery as an expression of idealized beauty, they are supposed to Favor the appearance of their future children. The doll features a big-headed motif with joint eyebrows and nose, as well as suspended arms attached to a cylindrical body.
