KOTA are a tribe from northeastern region of Gabon and the republic of Congo. This arm chair draws its inspiration from the bracelet or anklet currency of the KOTA tribe. KOTA tribe are known for their copper and brass spiritual guardian figures. These currency form features an anklet in form of stacked irregular rings modelled as anklets usually worn around the ankle as a display of wealth, achievement and status by both men and women in the community. These anklet copper currencies were used for major but rear transactions, as well as exchanged during marriage ceremonies.

KOTA armchair was created as a symbol of wealth and societal status.

 

PRODUCT FEATURES

KOTA armchair is made of metal, wood, polished deep brass engraved with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The chair directly mimics the bracelet form of the KOTA people, the stacked form becomes part of the upholstery.
