KUBA is also known as kingdom of Bakuba, it is a traditional kingdom in central Africa DR Congo. The KUBA kingdom flourished between the 17th and 19th centuries in the modern-day democratic republic of Congo. This suspended light derived its inspiration from the hat of the KUBA people. This hat are male creations, primarily worn by men to communicate their status within the community. Made with raffia and often adorned with glass beads and cowrie shells. The shells were once currency and both are luxury item. 

KUBA suspended light was created as a symbol of wealth and status. 

PRODUCT FEATURES

KUBA suspended light is made of metal, and polished deep brass engraved with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. This light directly mimics the hat of the KUBA people. Illumination happens from a glass bulb inside the form.
