AMASUNZU is an elaborate hairstyle traditionally worn by Rwanda and Burundi men and unmarried women, this sophisticated hairstyle usually represented where someone was in life and other place in the society. When warriors wore it, it was a symbol of bravery and strength, other men wore it as symbol of status and wealth. men who did not wear AMASUNZU were looked with suspicion until the 20th century. This style is worn by unmarried women after the age of 18-20 years, indicating that they are of marriable age.

The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars.
