PESA means money in Swahili. Cowry shells symbolized power, prestige and wealth. But cowries are also aesthetically pleasing, and that made them valuable as means of currency and exchange. Cowry shells were also employed in ritual and divination practice mostly in west Africa and some other parts of Africa. Cowries were also a symbol of fertility. Women often wore a necklace with one cowry around their neck or waist as Goodluck charm. PESA side table was inspired by the cowry shell.
PESA side table was created as a symbol of power, prestige, wealth and fertility.
