POTO is a name given to a stool used by the Ngombe chief of the DR Congo. This POTO stool is carved from a single piece of wood, with nails outlining certain designs. These stools were only used by wealthy elders and people of high social status, it was part of the few dedicated sculpture curved as a symbol of notable status. They were usually transmitted by descendant and were only replaced if they became unusable.

The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The chair directly mimics the curved form of the POTO stool. The new design embodies the use of brass and other contemporary element to embrace a new form.
