SIRIGE word comes from the Dogon tribe of mail. The SIRIGE mask is regarded as one of the most important masks to the Dogon people. This mask binds the Dogon people of mail to the celestial world of heaven (where is afterwords exist) on earth, which provides food, shelter and life. It is performed with other dancing mask in a masked funeral dance called a Dama to honour the passing of a respected elder. The dancers use their teeth to balance the 20-foot-high mask, which is curved form the limb of a single tree. Daners swing the mask in sweeping motions to represent the arc of the sun. the masks design a straight line, serve to connect the worlds of the sun and earth. This dance ceremony usually lasts for three days. The ceremonies represent the ancestral heritage and generational linage of the deceased.

PRODUCT FEATURES

SIRIGE floor lamp is made of metal and polished deep brass engraved with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The floor lamp directly mimics the ceremonial mask of the SIRIGI. Illumination happens through 12 layers of light source on the form as well as a light control button.
