BAMILEKE is a tribe from Cameroon in central Africa. They inhabit the western plateau of Cameroon. This floor lamp draws its inspiration from the BAMILEKE chief hat. The hat is a crucial component of the BAMILEKE chief, worn during public ceremonies. It is hand tailored from cultural indigenous materials like raffia, the hat features a bowlike form with an extension to one side, the extension has a flowery form that gives it a sophisticated outlook. The hat is preserved by tradition, passes down to successor.

BAMILEKE floor lamp was created as a symbol of wealth, status and prestige.

PRODUCT FEATURES

BAMILEKE floor lamp is made of metal, polished brass engraved with tribal scarification. The scarification involves the use of both industrial and manual welding techniques and science to embody the tribal scars. The floor lamp directly mimics the shape of the BAMILEKE hat with its extension, the form is lifted up with a steel rod and a sphere base. Illumination happens through a glass bulb attached to the steel rod.
