MBOLE are an ethnic group of about 150,000 people living in southwest Kisangani in the DR Congo. This table lamp was inspired by the copper currency of the MBOLE people. This MBOLE currency were modelled as anklets usually worn around the ankle as a display of wealth, achievement and status by both men and women in the community. These anklet copper currencies were used for major but rear transactions, as well as exchanged during marriage ceremonies.

MBOLE table lamp was created as a symbol of wealth and societal status.
